Parable 144 - Parables of Steel by Robert Dean Steel

Parable 144 - Parables of Steel by Robert Dean Steel

There were two young men that started out in a well known sport together.  One was talented and skilled while the other was hard working and persistent.  The skilled player over time became arrogant and lazy.  He believed that his talent and skill would secure him a great place in the sport.  The other boy continued to hone his skills, technique and training.  The skilled player over time became difficult and demanding with his coaches and fellows players.
One day the boys were called into the coaches office.  The coach explained that only one position could be offered on the team so he had to make a decision.  The skilled player turn to the other boy and said, "Sorry it did not work out."  The coach interrupted the young man who spoke, "You have it wrong, I am letting you go."  The young man looked shock.  The coach then explained that skill and talent is not enough and that character is the secret to success.  Commit your ways to the Lord and He will help you succeed.
