Parable 143 - Parables of Steel by Robert Dean Steel

Parable 143 - Parables of Steel by Robert Dean Steel

A king wanted to bless someone in his kingdom so he went out in disguise to find someone worthy.  He visited first a home of a man who he met on the road.  The man treated the king kindly.  He shared with him a simple meal then to the king's surprise this poor and humble man gave him some food for the remainder of his journey.
Next, the King in disguise visited the home of a well known nobleman.  The nobleman treated him with suspicion and disdain.  When the king in disguised asked for help the nobleman refused and even began to drive him off his property.  The king dressed as a traveler said, "I will bring this matter before the king."  The nobleman replied, "The king is a fool and he will not hear you, now begone."  He then drove the king off his property.
After the king had returned to the palace he had both men summoned.  To his surprise the nobleman found out that the man he had treated so badly was the king.  He tried to apologize but the King said, "You had your opportunity to be kind but your refuse, I know your real heart."  He immediately exiled the nobleman.  The king then spoke kindly to the poor man and rewarded him by giving him the exiled nobleman's estate and title.  Kindness paves the way for many rewards.
