The Woman

June 18 - The woman - Rev 12:1-2

Vs 1-2  So John then saw a great wonder in heaven.  He saw a woman clothed with the sun.  This indicates that she was very special.  She is aligned with the light and life of God.  We should have the same in our lives.  Next, she has the moon under her feet.  Joseph saw a similar thing when he had one of his two dreams back in Gen 37.  The Sun is Jacob and the moon is Rachel.  Then she has on her head a crown of twelve stars.  Now many in this age would like to identify this woman as the church but it is obvious this is Israel.  She was travailing in pain in birth and about to give birth.  The child is obviously Jesus Christ.  Of course Herod tried to destroy Jesus and his parents had to flee across the desert to Egypt to escape.  In this picture John sees what happen in the past.  He also gets a glimpse of the future because of what happens next.  We always need to be patient when it comes to God because he leads us step by step.  That is why we are called to be patient before the Lord.
