The shepherd

May 4 – The Shepherd – Rev 7:17

Vs 17 – The Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd. Isaiah had stated that the Messiah would shepherd His people. Jesus called the great shepherd. He will comfort them. He will be their guide, pastor, and help. He will lead them to the springs of living water. They will never thirst again. Jesus told the woman at the well that He gives living water and all who drink from the water He gives will never thirst again. David gave a picture of this in Psalm 23. In that moment God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. They had experienced deep pain, sorrow, and ultimately death. They had seen their family, friends and loved ones, beaten, abused, persecuted, and martyred. The unspeakable horror that they had faced was now being healed and soothed by the Lord Himself. They were able to sing lie the hymn writer said, “It will be worth it when we see Jesus.” This is their moment.
