Vignettes on Prayer

Today we are going to look at Matt 6:21, where Jesus reveals the heart of mankind.  He says here,

for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.  Jesus reveals that man will always follow His heart and where his heart his treasure is.  Whatever you want in life you will pursue will vigor and determination.  So many today, seek fame, fortune, prestige and popularity.  After a while these things become hollow and meaningless. Solomon reveals this in the book of Ecclesiastes.  Too many of the pop stars and rock stars died to young because of this fallacy.  The devil will give you exactly what you want but at a heavy price.  Jesus said, “What does it profit a person if they gain the whole world and lose their soul.”  Jesus put it into perspective when he said, “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.”  In prayer we can make our priorities straight.  I have discovered that when I pray God downloads His goals and priorities in my life.  My prayer for all of us today is that our heart will belong to God and our treasure will be his treasures.
