Purpose of the Law

 

December 4 -  What is the purpose of the law - Gal 3:19-24

 

     We have been spending so much time in this chapter because it is so rich in Biblical truth.  Paul brings up the question, “What is the purpose of the law?”

 

1.       The law was given so that man would know what sin was.  It was because of man’s sin to point the way  to the Saviour.

       2.   The law points to the promise of a Saviour.  It was the taskmaster to point to Christ.

       3.   Paul brings out that the purpose of the law was to lead man to Christ, that he might be justified

             by faith.

    

     I am so glad that Christ has come.  We are no longer under the jurisdiction of the law.  We are now Under the umbrella of grace.  Today’s lesson helps you know why God sent the law.
