May 13 - Vignettes on Prayer
Today I am looking at Eph 2:8-9 in regards to prayer. Paul writes, for it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. Here are some thoughts. First, only through grace can we be saved so let s pray that all who we know will accept he grace of God. Next, they will receive it by faith and trust the Lord with their present and future. Thirdly, they will realize that they cannot save themselves, that the Lord will open their eyes and escape the trap of good words. Lastly, they will accept the freed gift of God. Your part in prayer is to ask the Lord to open up the eyes and ears. That the gospel will penetrate their hearts and minds. You have an active role to play. So pray and believe for the salvation of those around you.
