Jesus and the Children

In Luke 18:15-17, Jesus has some infants brought to Him so that He might touch them.  But when His disciples saw this they rebuked the people who brought them.  Jesus turned to the disciples and told them a very important lesson.   He said, "Do not forbid the little children to come unto me, for such is the Kingdom of heaven.   Whoever does not receiive the Kingdom of God as a little child will be no means enter it."  Jesus was setting up the level of faith one has to have to enter the Kingdom of God.  You have to have child like faith.  It is simple trust in the work of Calvary that brings about entrance into the Kingdom of God.  All you have to do is believe and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior for salvation to enter your life and change you from the inside out.  Jesus also points out another well known fact.  Children are the ones who come to Christ the easiest.  Statistics tell us that 80% of all people who come to know the Lord come between the ages of 4-14.  That is why the church and parents should do everything they can to reach the children of this generation.  It s interesting that most churches spent the majority of their budgets on the wrong things.  We spend on an average 50% of our budgets trying to reach adults when the majority of converts happen before the age of 15.  We should be spending the majority of our evangelistic budgets on reaching the children.  The reason most churches don't is because it is the adults who pay and children don't.  Jesus knew the real value of children.  He knew they were the generation of today and tomorrow.  He knew they would give a lifetime of service to the Lord.  Today I leave you with two thoughts.  First, do everything you can to reach the children in your world and walk in child like faith.
