 Sept 20 - Vignettes on Prayer

 

     This is beginning to sound like a serial.  Things turned dramatically one night.  The young man was playing on the college hockey team and the young lady would always go to watch the game with her friends.  Her secret desire to watch the game was to watch the young man she was deeply in love with.  This one night the young lady was approached by the young man who she had turned down previously on numerous occasions.  He asked her to the Year book banquet which was months away.  She was sitting with her friends and she was shocked by the boldness, abruptness and matter of fact demeanor of this young man.  Visibly upset she did not know what to say when he replied, “Get over Him, he doesn’t like you but as a friend.”  He was referring to the young man she loved.  She fled the scene and cried outside the arena.  The young man she loved heard about what had happened and went to talked to her and comforted her as a friend.  He put his arms around her for the first time and in that moment which was intended to comfort her he felt her pain and love.  They would never be the same.  God was working.  That night she prayed for both her embarrassment but also for the incredible moment where for the first time she really experienced a true moment of love from another human being.  She had hope.  Never stop praying God is always working.
