July 20 - Vignettes on Prayer
1 John 1:9, states that if we confess our sins the Lord is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Confession has to do with sin in our lives. Even after coming to Christ and receiving the Holy Spirit we do not live a perfect live. In reality when we were converted a process of growth began which will continue as long as we live. 1 Pet 3:18, says that we are to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. A huge part of this growth is being obedient to the Word of God, praying without ceasing, and letting the Holy Spirit help us to live a life that is pleasing to God. When we sin, we do not destroy our relationship with God and have to start all over but a sense of nearness and closeness to God is disturb. So today examine your heart and make sure there is nothing between you and God. Some have called this keeping short accounts with God.
