July 2 - Vignettes on Prayer
Jesus is called the great intercessor. Larry Lea says that prayer is the most important work because that is what Jesus is doing right now. He is praying on our behalf. Jesus is praying for His church and us. This is the true measure of our love and concern for other people. Do we pray for them? Right now at this moment Jesus Christ our high priest is praying for us to the Father. Hebrew 7:25 states this. One man pointed out that in building the Church, Jesus Christ has spent 30 years in obscurity, 3 years in ministry and 2000 years in prayer. I love the prayer Jesus made in John 17, where He prayed during the upper room discourse. His prayer life is an example for us to be followed and patterned after.
