You alone

July 3 –
You alone - Psalm 83:18

This entire Psalm is a prayer of help and deliverance.  Asaph sees the world as it is, a wicked and evil place.  His cry is that God will come and show His might and power.  In this verse He prays that the Lord will show all who he is and what His name stands for.  When one looks at the compound names of God we see a part of God’s character.  For example He is Jehovah Rophi our healer.  That means He will heal us.  He is Jehovah Raah our shepherd which means He will lead, guide and direct us.  He is Jehovah Jireh our provider and He will supply every need as we put our trust in Him.  This is the God who we serve.
Asaph then reminds his audience the Lord is the most high and He rules over all the nations.  God lifts people up and brings them down.  This is a great comfort when we see evil winning for a while.  Evil will be destroyed and truth will prevail.  Remember that today as you go out into your day.  You are more than a conqueror.
