3 Truths

July 9 – 3 Truths – Psalm 86:5

I love the Psalms because they so wonderfully reveal the character and nature of God.  David has called out to the Lord for help and he reminds the Lord of three of His virtues or qualities.  First, the Lord is kind He will always look out for the interests of His people.  His kindness and benevolence are so wonderful. He supplies every need and loves with no strings attached.  Agape love is a love that looks beyond the external and sees the heart.  God will act in kindness because of His love, mercy and grace.
Next the Lord is forgiving.  This is what salvation is all about.  We did not get what we deserved.  If we ask for forgiveness He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all sin.   Grace is God’s riches at Christ expense.  Thirdly, the Lord is abounding in love.  His love has no measure, it is beyond comprehension.  It is higher, deeper and greater than man’s finite sight.  God’s love put Jesus on the cross so we could have eternal life.  David knew these qualities and we should as well.  The marvelous thing we learn is that these qualities are given when we call on the Lord.  When you pray these qualities will be shown to you.  What a great promise to think about today.
