THOGHTS FOR NEW YEAR

It is hard to believe we find ourselves in 2026.  Times passes by faster than we wish it did.  So here is the question, what is a priority in your life right now.  Society would have you believe that success is found in fame, popularity, money, or material possessions.  In fact, if we are to study the life of some of the most successful people in history we will find the opposite.

Howard Hughes was a a successful aircraft builder, movie mogul and businessmen.  He dated some of the prettiest ladies of the day.  He was known not only in the United States but throughout the world.  He was everything that people would deem as successful.  Yet Howard Hughes was quite the opposite.  He was lonely and unfulfilled.  The couple of decades of his life he lived as a recluse.  When he died, he was undernourished and looked like a human skeleton.  He has vast amount of money, but he never took care of himself.  In fact, they are still fighting over some aspects of his will.

Today there are many examples in the world of celebrities where fame, popularity, money, and possessions have shown fleeting.  Michael Jackson, Prince, Witney Houston, and Britney Spears for examples.  Imagine this Britney Spears sued her own family for looking out for her best interest.

Jesus put it all into perspective.  He said, “You can gain he whole world and lose your soul.”  Now I need to clarify one thing.  The Bible does not say, “money is the root of all evil.”  It states the love of money is the root of all evil.  So, when you run after money it will leave you empty and unfulfilled.  So, what is the answer?  Jesus stated in Matt 6:33, to seek first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness and all the things you are looking for will be added unto you.

When Jesus stated this, He was addressing how that the birds of the air and the flowers in the field do not spin or sow, yet God takes care of them.  Jesus then said that we are much more valuable than any of these.  In fact, Solomon who was the richest person the Jewish nation ever produced was not as adorned as one of the flowers in the field.  Jesus stated that even the hairs of your head have been number.  Simple put God will take care of you when you trust him with your food, shelter, clothing, and transportation.

I know that many today are concerned.  Rent has double for many in the past three years.  Food cost have gone up 40% and interest rates have gone up 475%.  I can tell you from personal experience that the economy of God is never dependant on the economy of man.  I have decades of experience in this matter.  My first house my mortgage rate was 14 ½ percent not five.  I raised four children during the times of runaway inflation.  I saw God provided repeatedly.  I am counseling you to trust God.  To not put your trust in the stock market, or business tycoons, leaders or even the government.  They will fail and disappoint.  God never does and I close with Phil 4:19. Paul states that God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory.  The beautiful thing is that is supply is only a prayer away.  Try it you will be pleasantly surprised.
