Jephthah Judges 11:1 -12:7

 

-  Was the son of prostitute and Gilead who was driven from his family?  Jud 11:1-2

-  Was an outcast but gathered a group of followers.  Jud 11:3

-  Asked by the Elders of Gilead to lead fight against Ammonites.  Rises to leadership.

    Jud 11:4-11

-  Sends message to Ammonites about why they were attacking Israel.  They say they want

   Certain territory back.  Jephthah sets record straight and message is ignored by Ammonites.

    Jud 11:12-27

-  Moved by the Spirit of the Lord at times and he goes to fight Ammonites.  Jud 11:29

-  Jephthah makes foolish vow about sacrificing as a burnt offering the first thing that comes to

    Meet him  Jud 11:30-31

-  Jephthah defeats Ammonites and delivers Israel from their enemies and his foolish vow is  

    Realized when his daughter meets him first.  Jud 11:34-35

-  She spends two months in hills weeping about never marrying.  Jud 11:36-39

-  Jephthah was a man who kept his vow.  Jud 11:39

-  Fought against Ephraim and 42,000 were killed.  Jud 12:1-6

-  Judged Israel for 6 years.   Jud 12:7
