 March 20 – Gathered in His Name – 1 Cor 5:4

 

4 So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present.

 

     Paul says that whenever they are gathered, he is with them.  He has found memories of his time with them.  Even though he is not with them physically he is praying for them.  He is concerned for their growth and development.  He also reminds them of the wonderful promise found in Matt 18:19-20 where Jesus said where two or three are gather the Lord is in their midst. 

     Paul also reminds them that when they are gathered the power of the Lord Jesus is present.  Notice he said Lord Jesus.  This is a reference to the authority, power and masterhood of Jesus over every believer.  Paul also said where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom.  Paul reminds the Corinthians the sacredness and beauty of church gatherings.
