THE GOD OF HOPE

 

Rom 15:13 – The God of Hope – June 24, 2012

 

May the God of Hope:  God is the one who gives hope. 

 

-        Hope is this is a feeling of expectation and desire that certain events will happen.  In God’s case you know He is the one who gives hope.  This creates a confidence and belief in overcoming even the impossible.  Jeremiah reminds us that has plans for us.  To give us a hope and a future. 

 

Fill you with all joy and peace.

 

 

-        Joy is that deep seated contentment that is not based in circumstances and knows everything will turn out

-        Joy is our strength.  Joy allows us to be happy, fulfilled and victorious no matter what because you have confidence in God.

-        Peace is that absence of person warfare.  You have peace that is beyond comprehension.  You know God loves you, that you sins have been forgiven,

 

As you trust in Him. 

 

-        Trust in God’s case you have a firm belief in God’s reliability and word.  You have this confident expectation you walk by faith and not by sight.  You know God is not a liar.  You know He is love and you know He will stand behind His promises and His word.  It is against Gods character to break a trust and God would never break His word.  He places His word above His name. 

 

So you will overflow with Hope.

 

-        Paul wanted them to be filled.  His thought was to have them not just filled but overflow.  Overflow means this flowing to others.  We are to give what we have received to others.  Others need hope.  They need to know God will bring peace and joy as they trust Him.  Peter says we are to be prepared to give others this hope we have that is within us.

 

By the power of the Holy Spirit. 

 

-        All this happens through the regenerating and indwelling power of the Holy Spirit.  The same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead. 

-        This same power enables us to be living an overcoming and abundant life. 

-        We are His hands, feet and mouth.  It is our testimony and the blood the lamb that enables us to overcome.

-        We have a hope and confidence in the fact that Jesus is our Savior, Healer, Baptizer in the Holy Spirit and our soon coming King.  You will overflow to others by the power of the Holy Spirit.
