I love
comeback stories from sports and the world at large. Bret Butler was one of those stories. He was a center fielder for the Los Angeles
Dodgers. He was a scrappy, consistent
and dedicated player and teammate.
Described by his follow players as a wonderful gentleman. He was a bit smaller, but his heart was huge.
In the middle
of the 1996 season Butler was diagnosed with throat cancer. The doctors said it would end his career. Butler said he would beat the odds and come back. He went through all the cancer treatments and
as he predicted he beat the odds and came back to play. His first night back he scored the winning
run.
Butler’s experience
teaches us that even dire circumstances we can beat the odds, hold our heads up
high and trust God for the victory. In
that way we can be an inspiration around us.
We cannot let setbacks keep us out of the game of life.
S0 what is
holding you back and keeping you out of the game. Ask God for strategy and the drive to compete
to win. You can overcome anything your
way if you are persistent and press on.
