. 21 I have not written to you because you do not
know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie is of the truth.
John reminds
them that this letter is not written because they do not know the truth. Right from the beginning it was the
centerpiece of the gospel. Jesus is the
way, truth, and the life. NO one comes
to the Father but through Him. This is
the truth.
They know this
truth. They no that eternal and abundant
life only comes through Jesus Christ. He
is salvation and love with a face. He
destroyed the works of the devil. That
perfect love cats out all fear.
John then points out that truth and lies
cannot dwell together. A lie needs lies
to prop it up and truth can stand alone.
Truth is a fact and lie is a false hood.
Truth will always be truth no matter how many try to dispel it. Lies even when repeated remain a lie. Truth and lies are like darkness and
light. Truth dispels lies.
22 Who is the liar but the one who denies that
Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and
the Son.
John points
directly to who is a liar. It is the one
who denies that Jesus is the Christ. The
one who tells others that Jesus is not the Messiah. Jesus is not the savior that his broken body
and shed blood did not bring healing or forgiveness of sin. It is the one who denies the death, burial
and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
This person is
operating in the spirit of the antichrist.
They deny the Father and the Son.
They deny the trinity. They deny
that the Son was sent by the Father.
They deny the deity of both. This
tells you what spirit those who deny the basics tenets of the faith are
operating in. This can also be found in
the church as well.
23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father;
the one who confesses the Son has the Father also.
This verse is
so concise, precise and straight forward.
Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father. You cannot have claim relationship with the Father
of you deny the Son. You deny the deity,
humanity and authority of the Son you do not have the Father.
Whoever confesses
the Son and accepts Him as Lord and Savior has the Father also. They are inseparable. Jesus does not waste words. This was a direct statement to both the Gnostics
and Judaizers about who Jesus Christ is and His relationship and connection to
the Father,
