Today is the day to serve the
Lord. You have heard that phrase so many
times in recent days. Why is the Lord
saying this over and over again, because this is the only day that we
have? Paul reminded us that we must
redeem the time that we have. To redeem
the time means to take advantage of very opportunity we have been given by the
Lord because we may never get another.
Recently a video was released on the internet showing people crossing a
busy intersection. Everything was fine
until a man rode his bicycle across the intersection. What happened next makes it clear that life
is short. A car slammed through the
intersection and you see the man being hit and flying into a tree crushed like
a rag doll. Scenes like this are played
out all over the world every day. More
people will be killed in North America in one year because of drunk driving
than all the Americans who were killed in the Vietnam War.
The
Lord never said that life would be fair or that we would be immune from heart
ache. He said, “He would keep us in the
dark times and would help us to grow through them.” So when the Lord tells us to draw near it is
very good idea to draw near. When He
says, look up for your redemption draws nigh, you better look up. The Lord is calling His people to a closer
walk with Him today. He is calling us to
deeper depths and higher heights with Him.
The Psalmist said, “As deep calls unto deep so I call you.” The Lord is calling us into a much more
personal and intimate relationship. Let
us not turn away from Him but draw close to Him because the days in which we
live are evil and they shall become more evil.
