YES AND AMEN
March 2 - 2
Corinthians 1:18-22 – yes and Amen
Vs
18 – We learn that God is faithful. He
is the God of truth.
a.
In Deut 7:9, God was faithful
to Moses.
b.
In 1 Kings 8:56, He was
faithful to Solomon.
c.
In Psalm 36:5, God was faithful
to David.
d.
In 1 Cor 1:9, He was faithful
to Paul.
e.
In Hebrews 6:18, He was
faithful to the Hebrews
f.
In 1 Pet 4:19, God was faithful
to Peter.
g.
You will find God the same for
you.
h.
The message to us today is not
yes or no. We do not have a father who
wavers in what He brings. What He says
He will do. God does not change His mind
when He makes a promise. He is truth.
9 For the Son of
God, Jesus Christ, who was
preached among you by us—by me and Silas[a] and Timothy—was not “Yes” and “No,” but in him it has always been “Yes.”
a.
Jesus Christ is
the Son of God. Paul, Timothy and Silas
preached the same thing. Jesus Christ
and Him crucified. Remember the steps of
a good man are ordered by the Lord.
b.
As a Christian
it is not yes or no. In Christ it has
always been yes. . Our will is aligned with God’s will.
20 For no matter
how many promises God has made,
they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.
a.
No matter how many promises God
has made they are yes in Christ.
b.
God’s fulfills His promises in
Christ. You need your need met today in
Christ it shall be met. God says Yes, to
you today in Christ
c.
Through Christ and In Christ
the promises are Amen, exclamation point.
Amen means, “Yes” It shall be
done for the glory of God. The character
and essence of God will come to pass in your life and situation.
21 Now it is God
who makes both us and you stand firm in
Christ. He anointed us,
a.
God will make your stand
firm. You shall stand on the word of
GoYou will be a rock people will see and marvel at.
b.
He has anointed us. We are filled and flowing in the Holy
Spirit. Remember it is the anointing
that breaks any bondage, yoke or fear. God
is able.
22 set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit
in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
a.
He has set His
seal upon us. We belong to Him. A seal in those days we a seal of ownership
and authority. The expense for our
salvation was Christ’s death, burial and resurrection.
b.
The Holy Spirit
is our security deposit. A guarantee of
what is to come.
