May 19 – Save Me – Psalm 54:1-2
Now we are flying through the psalms. Today we are looking at a Maski of David. It is a chorus of David`s thoughts. He actually asks the Lord for two things. The background for this psalm is that David is on the run from Saul. He asks the Lord to save him. His enemy seems to always be just one step behind him. The tragic thing is that this was his own father in law doing this. It just shows that betrayal can come from anyone and for some of the silliest reasons. David was relying on the Lord. Only the Lord would protect him. Secondly, to vindicate him for David had done nothing wrong. Have you ever been wrongly accused and asked for God`s help and vindication.
He then asks the Lord to hear his prayer and the words of his mouth. David wanted the Lord to hear everything he was going to say. He was going to register with the Lord. His thoughts on the matter. Prayer many times is us talking to God about where we are in life and how we need Him. The promise is God will not only hear but answer. A wonderful thing to remember as you go about this day.
