May 13 – Joy of Salvation – Psalm 51:12

 May 13 – Joy of Salvation – Psalm 51:12

David then asked the Lord to restore the joy of his salvation.  Salvation is such a wonderful thing.  It is a life of abundance.  There is joy in the Lord.  It is our strength.  It springs like a river.  It fills ever crack in life.  It brings strength and hope.  Joy is deep seated contentment knowing that God has everything under control.  Joy is more than happiness.  Happiness relies on circumstances, emotions and perceptions.  Joy relies on contentment, peace and grace.  These are fruit of the Holy Spirit.  They are a foundation for true peace and contentment.

David also wanted the Lord to give him a willing spirit or heart.  He knew that this would sustain him through all avenues and situations of life.  Porter Barrington stated that a yield life is a sustained life.  It takes 72 muscles to make a frown and only 14 to smile.  Smile and be more efficient.  Laughter and good humor is an outgrowth of a joyful life.  David knew joy and a yielded heart were the foundations for a happy life.  Remember a merry heart doeth good like a medicine.  So laugh and be healed.  It will sustain you through whatever comes your way.
