May 12 – Take not your Holy Spirit from me – Psalm 51:11

May 12 – Take not your Holy Spirit from me – Psalm 51:11

One of greatest fear when we sin and fall is that God will reject us.  This was David`s fear.  As a worshipper he was aware of the presence of God.  That presence had been damaged.  David asked the Lord to not take His Holy Spirit from Him.  In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit came on people but in the New Testament He lives inside people.  This is one of the reasons why the New Testament is far superior.

David had the presence of God with Him since he was young and now he felt the strain so He wanted to get back to that place of intimacy with God.  When we sin our relationship with God is damaged but not destroyed.  Jesus told us in Matt 28:20, that He would be with us always even to the end of the age.  What a great promise to hold onto in every situation.  The Lord will not withdraw His Holy Spirt from you.  He will convince you to come back to God when you sin, fall or fail but He will never leave you. Remember the Holy Spirit is your comforter, guide, friend and helper.
