FAITH

 

     Back in the 16^th Century Martin Luther saw a verse in Romans where it says the just will live by Faith.  Luther said you either watch it happen or you make it happen.  The just always live by faith and faith alone.  Paul was saying that because the just shall live by faith you are not ashamed of the gospel and you want to bring it to your world.

     Religion is man reaching up to God where Christianity is God reaching down to man.  The gospel is good news about God bringing people to Himself.  The Lord offered salvation to the Jews first then to the gentiles.  This message is universal.  It is one of two enemies being brought together.  God is no respecter of person, so this wonderful opportunity is given to all.  What you need to do is accept it.

     God has offered his righteousness to us and will clothe us with it.  This means that we live in an unrighteous world as righteous people.  We are an example for others to follow.  What people need to see is Christ in us.  We are reflections of the Lord.  All of this is done by faith.  Faith is trusting in what God has done.  Faith is based in God’s love, and this brings hope.  Fath is the substance of things hope for, and the evidence of things not seen.  We are justified or made right with God by faith we are to live it out before the world and share it with all who hear because it is good news.

DISPLAY HIS GLORY

 

Oct 9 – Displaying His Glory - Isaiah 61:10-11

 

     Isaiah closes this chapter talking about his own experience in the Lord.  He greatly delights in the Lord.  His soul rejoices in God.  He has been clothed with the garments of salvation and all its benefits.  He has been arrayed wit the robe of His righteousness.  Our garments of sin are gone. 

     The Lord adorns His people head with a mitre.  We have been adorned like a bride in jewels.  The Lord make His people a fruitful plant in good soil.  The nutrients He gives makes seed of righteousness and holiness to grow.  The sovereign Lord makes His people righteous and objects of praise through the nations.  What a beautiful picture and reality for the people of God.

WISE THOUGHTS

 

     Here is a truth we should give some of our bouquets to a person while they are alive then heap a bunch of them on their coffin.  Never question God on where He has placed you for a moment.  You are there for a reason and a lesson.  The fool trust their own timing and the wise trust God and His.

       It is impossible to have a sour puss and say you have the joy of the Lord.  The reason people come into the house of the Lord on Sunday and look like they have the weight of the

world on them is because they have not release that weight to the Lord during the week.  You cannot eat from the table of the Lord when you have been eating from a slop bowl of the world all week.

     You cannot fully enjoy the house of the Lord if you have not been the closet of prayer all week.

A praying mother and a bartender do not serve the same kind of beverage.  You cannot enjoy the house of the Lord if you have been living in the honkytonk’s of life.

HOW TO BE A GIANT KILLER PART 3

 

     This is the third article on becoming a giant killer.  In the earlier articles we used the example of David when he took Goliath down with just a sling and five smooth stones.  The least three are first be confident in your everyday battles.  The truth of the matter is that everyday we face challenges and problems.  How we overcome them makes all the difference when a big trial comes.  You are working from experience.  You have learned to be resourceful, creative and problem solving.  David had won before against a lion and bear s he knew Goliath was just another enemy to overcome.

     Next, you have to be aggressive and decisive.  When you face a giant or mountain you have to take it problem on with aggression.  Passiveness is weakness.  There is a time to be aggressive and violent.   Some giants and problems must be met head on with decisive reaction.  Fierce determination is what is needed.  Goliath was going to kill David.  It was kill or be killed.  Sometimes you must defend yourself or harm can come to you or others.  Jesus said true love is being willing to lay down your life for a friend.

     Lastly, be determined to have daily victory over giants in your life.  David would face many more giant problems and difficulties in his life.  He was never alone because the Lord was with Him.  Jesus said he would never leave or forsake us.  Paul tells us that God will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we are able to endure but with the temptation a means of escape.  You are not alone you have divine help if you ask for it but you must be determined. 

YOU MATTER

 

     Can I remind you today that you matter.  I know there are times when you don’t think that but here are some things to think about.  There is someone who thins about you and smiles because you said a kind word or gave them a kind action.  Someone hears a song and smiles because of something you did together that made that song special.  Whenever I hear a beach boys song I remember the wonderful times my friends and I travelled to the mountains for camping and fun.  It reminds me of a simpler time and era.

     Someone sips coffee or tea from their favorite mug and thinks about you and smiles because you had wonderful conversations and activities around a dinner table or coffee place.  You said the right thing at the right time in the right manner. 

     Someone puts on their favorite T shirt or shirt and thinks of you and smiles because it was an outfit that they wore when you did something crazy together and created memories.  Solomon said a word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pitchers of silver.  You worked on a project together and it was a success or a bonding moment.

     All this happen because you took the time to be with them.  To be their friend, counselor, workmate, the crazy person who made them laugh and smile.  I just want to remind you today that you matter don’t forget that.
