On Am 930 the
Light there is a song written performed by Brian Doerksen which is about a
wonderful scripture from Micah 6:8 which is actually a repeat of Deut 10:12.
Now in these days we have been counseled by Micah to do the following.
Micah reminds
his audience and readers that God has shown you, O man, what is good. So how does God do this. He does it through the word and
prayer. He does it through
role models and mentors. He
shows it through His example. Jesus was
that. He does it through the prompting and guidance of the indwelling Holy
Spirit. You do not have to guess. The
Lord has given us the Bible it is our guidebook, blueprint, compass, and
instruction manual.
The Micah
tells us what does the LORD require of you? What does the Lord want from you? What is your duty, obligation and
requirement from the Lord? What
does expect from you in your relationship with God? How can you reflect, imitate and
demonstrate your love and activity for God.
So here is Three
things required by God in life! To do
justly or act justly. Three
definitions. Live and walk in a fair or
morally correct way. To have good reason or skill. To behave justly in international relations
means to act in accordance with the rules and authoritative practices of the
society of states. It
means living your life by the word of God, Walking in the character, nature of
God as outlined in the Bible. Being
a person of honesty, integrity, truthfulness, love, forgiveness, being
accountable, transparent and wise.
Then Micah
instructs us to Love mercy. This phrase
means to have loyal love or loving kindness.
David said His loving kindness is greater than life. Mercy fuels compassion, providing promising
glints of light in a darkened world. It’s kindness, forward forgiveness, and
empathy. Mercy chooses not to be offended and compassionately sees a hurting
heart behind hurtful words. Mercy is an
extension of and expression of love, “an act of kindness, compassion, or
favor.” Mercy is a characteristic of the One True God. It is agape love in action as described in 1
Cor 13:4-8
Lastly, we are
to walk humbly with your God?".
To be humble is to recognize that our own abilities fell short;
it was God who brought us to where we are. Therefore, we shouldn’t be arrogant
and rely on ourselves, but rather we should be humble and rely on God. Living in close relationship with
Him. Recognizing His
greatness and our own human limitations.
Seeking to follow His will rather than our own pride or desires. Serving others through acts of
justice, mercy, and love.
There is a
real opportunity to make a different and be an example in our community. People are looking for the real things. This simple instruction can help make you
that kind of person. I have had the
privilege of knowing some wonderful people.
One such man was a member of my church who name was Tyson Spence. He was the best example I can think of who showed
these qualities. He has gone to glory
but those who knew Him would testify that He was all the things I wrote about
in this article. I am sure you can think
of one. My advice is to be one yourself.
