Feb 28 – Psalm 25:1-3 - Trust in the Lord
Feb 28 – Psalm 25:1-3 - Trust in the Lord
It is amazing how fast a month can go. In Psalm 25, David commits his soul to the Lord. His will, intellect and emotions belong to God. He is putting His trust in the Lord. David then asks the Lord not allow him to be put to shame. David believed that when he trusted in the Lord his reputation and character would be in the Lord’s hand. He then asks the Lord not to allow his enemies to defeat him. David was aware that he had many enemies and they would love to destroy him. The Christian has three main foes, the world the flesh and the devil. Each has one agenda, to rob, kill and destroy. Entertaining them is foolish and will always lead to death. So overcome, defeat and destroy them from your life.
In vs 3, David states that anyone who puts their trust in the Lord will never out to shame. You can trust God with your life and reputation. He will take care of how people view and treat you. You do your part and God will do His. David also says those that act deceitfully will be put to shame because they have no excuse. They know what they are doing. They will reap what they sow.

Feb 27 – Psalm 25:7-10 – The King of Glory
Feb 27 – Psalm 25:7-10 – The King of Glory
David has been relating the goodness and glory of the Lord. He tells the gates be lifted up and opened up, those the ancient doors. The King of Glory is the most awesome and powerful King. Jesus is a reference to Jesus Christ. This verse is a prophetic view of Jesus` triumphant entry.
The next verse answers, who is the King of Glory, the Lord strong and mighty, the Lord strong in battle. This is also a prophetic view of Jesus coming back at the conquering King. The following verse again says the same thing as verse 7, who is the King of Glory? He is the Lord Almighty the omnipotent and omniscience and omnipresent God. He is almighty. There is no one like Him. He is the creator and sustainer of all things. One day He will come into Jerusalem and will establish His rule forever.

Feb 26 – Psalm 23:6 – Goodness and Mercy
Feb 26 – Psalm 23:6 – Goodness and Mercy
This is such a great verse. David says surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life. My pastor Ken Bunting said that when he drove the angels of goodness and mercy were with him. God’s goodness which is his godliness and essence will follow us and be with us. What an amazing thought to have the presence of God with us all the time. His mercy which is His divine favor will never leave us as we place ourselves in the middle of His will. God promises to be with from the moment we accept Him till the end. You are never alone.
David then closes off and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. It is no secret that David loved God’s house. He wanted to build a temple for the Lord but that task was deferred because David was a man of war and the task was given to Solomon his son. David loved God and anything to do with His house. He brought the Ark of the Covenant back to Jerusalem in a great celebration. He set the tabernacle on Mt Moriah. He stated in Psalm 122:1, that He loved going to the house of the Lord. David was excited about the Lord’s house. Worshippers are. Today let goodness, mercy and worship define who you are all your life.

Feb 25 – Psalm 23:5 – Anointed
Feb 25 – Psalm 23:5 – Anointed
Now this verse is wonderful because David says the Lord prepares a table in the presence of my enemies. We have confidence in the Lord. When you are at war or in the presence of your enemies the last thing you are going to do is eat a feast. But with God for you who can be against you. God promises protection, provision and His presence. All these are building blocks for confidence. Our enemies are the world, the flesh and the devil but in the Lord we can sit down and rest because the battle has already been won, it is the Lord’s and Jesus has already destroyed the works of the devil.
David then says the Lord has anointed His head with oil. Samuel anointed David and He became king. God anoints us and we have become kings and priests unto God. His anointing breaks any bondage, blockage or chain. We are anointed and appointed for a purpose, destiny and greatness. Let His anointing flow in your life and see God do the impossible through you today. Two great promises today.

Feb 24 – Psalm 23:4 - Walk in Victory
Feb 24 – Psalm 23:4 - Walk in Victory
This verse is often used during funeral celebrations but it is so much more. Even though we walk in the shadow if death we have no fear. 1 Cor 15:52-58 states that death has lost its sting and victory when Jesus Christ rose from the dead. David did not fear death because he knew it was a portal into eternal and abundant life. He knew He was going to be with the Lord. In this verse there are three great promises, God’s protection, presence and confidence. I love that song, “I have got confidence God is going to see me through” David had this confidence as well.
.David knew the Lord was going to be with him. The rod and staff of the Lord was with him. No evil would defeat Him. No foe would overcome him. The Lord was with Him. We have the same promise in Matt 28:20, God is with us. Now the staff or rod was an instrument of authority, correction and help. It was used by the shepherd to guide, correct the sheep. In the hands of a skilled shepherd it could be used as a weapon. Today let God walk, guide and protect you.

Feb 21 – Psalm 23:1 – The Lord is my Shepherd
Feb 21 – Psalm 23:1 – The Lord is my Shepherd
We are going to spend the next few days in Psalm 23. I love this portion because I pastor a church and am a shepherd. So I am a shepherd looking at this psalm from that perspective. David begins with a great statement, “The Lord is my shepherd.” The Lord cares for us, loves us and protects us as a shepherd does. Jesus said that He is the good shepherd and He gave His life for the sheep. Shepherding was David’s first profession. It is where He came from so he knows the details of this lifestyle well.
David knows that good shepherd will make sure that his sheep will lack for nothing. They will be able to grow thrive and multiply. They will be protected from marauders, animals and enemies. The shepherd will protect them so well that he will even lay down his life for them. Jesus did this for us on the cross. Today allow the Lord to be your shepherd and you will lack no good thing.
