July 17 - Vignettes on Prayer
There will be
no doubt be times when you go to pray the last thing you feel like doing is
praising or worshipping God. This is
when we may offer to God what the Bible calls the “Sacrifice of Praise.” In Ps 116:12-17, we see David giving a
sacrifice of praised to God. Praising
God when we do not feel like it, really is a sacrifice. As such times we praise God purely on the
basis of faith. Prayer is not based on
feelings but faith. We are praising God
purely on faith and the fact that God is a wonderful Father. We praise Him because He is worthy to be
praised at all times. We also praise Him
for the fact that no matter how we feel He still love us. Paul says in Rom 8:28, in all things God
works for the good of those who love and serve Him. Like the old song says, “We bring a sacrifice
of praise into the house of the Lord.”
Do that today when you don’t feel like it and release God’s breakthrough
and blessing.
