Guard my Life

– Psalm 25:20-21 -
Guard my Life

This our last day in Psalm 25 and we have learned so much.  David asks the Lord to guard His life.  Be my body guard he says.  Make sure no enemy or foe overcomes me.  Rescue me Lord, David asks.  Only God can rescue us from our foes and ourselves.  Remember our enemies are the world, the devil and ourselves.  I say, ourselves because like God said to Cain, “Sin is at the door of your heart, it wants to master you but you can master it.”  God helps and gives us power to make the right choice.

Let me not be put to shame.  This is a constant theme with David.  He did not want to be humbled before His enemies.  If we humble ourselves before the Lord we will never be humiliated.

David wanted integrity and upright preserve him.  He also knows this was the way of success.  Integrity means you can always be trusted to make the right choice, do the right thing and be honest in all situations.  Righteousness is a protection.  It guards our hearts.  It is a breastplate of protection.  All this gives David and us hope.  Hope is always based on expectation of someone we put our trust in will always come through.  God always will come though.  Praise God.
