Gideon – Mighty Man of Valour.  Judges 6:12

 

His Early Life and Surrounding’s!

 

-  He was son of Joash of the tribe of Manasseh.  Jud 6:11

-  Israel was weak and had forsaken God.  They were terrorized by the Midianites.  Jud 6:1-5

-  Israel cried out to God and repented.  A prophet was sent to rebuke the people.  Jud 6:6-10

 

Gideon’s Call to Deliver His Nation!

 

-  An angel appears and summons him to leadership.  Jud 6:11-12

-  His excuses of Israel forsaking the Lord and unfitness to lead were ignored.  Jud 6:13-15

-  He was assured of divine presence with him and the certainty of success is given through

   Supernatural signs to encourage his faith.  Jud 6:16-21

 

Battle with the Midianites!  This is an outstanding event in the career of Gideon.

Events leading up to battle.

 

-  Gideon destroys the altar of Baal and an Asherath pole.  He builds an altar to God.  Jud 6:24-28

-  He is threatened with death by the idolaters but is rescued by his father.  Jud 6:29-32

-  After assembling the enemies Gideon blows a trumpet and calls Israel together.  Jud 6:33-35

-  Two encouragements come to Gideon before he attacks the enemy.  Jud 6:36-7:14

-  His faith is strengthened by the sign of the fleece.  Jug 6:36-40

-  His faith is severely tested when he army is reduced from 32,000 to300.  Jud 7:2-9

- His faith is strengthened when visiting the enemy camp at night he hears a Midianites dream

   About his victory.  Jud 7:9-14
