PAUL'S MESSAGE
Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by
the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes.
Paul
introduces himself as three things in this first verse. He is called.
Paul had an experience on the Damascus Road where Jesus Christ knocks
him down and spoke to him about the direction of his life. It was here he received his call to go and
speak to the gentiles. Paul has a clear
calling to the gentiles. Next, he is an
apostle. Jesus Christ commissioned Paul
as he did the other apostles before him.
Apostle also means sent one.
Jesus Christ is the object and essence of Paul’s message and call.
Paul then
discloses that this call to be an apostle was the will of God. Paul was only doing the will of his father
and the will of God. It was a clear,
concise, and precise call. Paul could
nothing but obey the call which ultimately lead to his death.
Paul would
also introduce, Sosthenes who was “the leader of the synagogue” (Acts 18:17) in
Corinth. He could be either beaten by Gallio’s men or by the unruly mob, which
was angry that they couldn’t kill Paul. Because they wanted to beat somebody,
they took it out on Sosthenes.

June 28 – David His Servant – Psalm 78:70-72
June 28 – David His Servant – Psalm 78:70-72
Asaph has gone
through his history of the nation in this psalm and now he springs to present
day. He speaks of his king. David was the Lord`s anointed. He was the Lord`s servant. Asaph saw David`s life and how it exhibited
his relationship with God. The Lord took
David from the sheepfold to become the shepherd of the people of Israel.
David was the
shepherd of the inheritance of God. This
speaks of leadership responsibility.
David was King and how he went in his relationship with God so did the
people. David shepherded in two ways and
such a great testimony. He did it with
integrity of heart. David was a man of
integrity, honesty, uprightness, transparency and holiness. David was a man of his word. He lived his faith. David was man after God`s own heart. Secondly, he led with skillful hands. David knew what he was doing. He was a master leader. He knew how to lead and motivate people. He was a man of action and inspirational
leader. Let us pray for our leaders that
they could lead the same way. Remember
righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people.

June 27 – He guides – Psalm 78:14-16
June 27 – He guides – Psalm 78:14-16
Asaph
continues with his thought and he then spends the rest of the psalm talking
about Israel`s history. This psalm is a
musical history of the nation. The Lord
guided Israel through the desert with a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by
night. That must have been a spectacular
sight. The visible presence of God. What a testimony.
The Lord split
a rock and the nation had water gushing out in such abundance like the
ocean. More than enough water to quench
the thirst of 2 million people and all their animals. We serve a God of abundance. You need an answer the God of the abundance
is here for you today. He brought water
from a rocky crag and water flowed down like a river. In the desert a river flowed to quench the
thirst of a nation. Your thirst can be
quench. Jesus said whoever drinks the
water He gives will never be thirsty again.
Drink this water today and you will never thirst again and neither will
those you introduce to Jesus.
June 26 – The Next Generation – Psalm 78:4
June 26 – The Next Generation – Psalm 78:4
This is a
psalm of Asaph and wonderful story of the goodness of God. Asaph tells how he is going to tell the
children of this generation the things God has done. In Israel oral history was essential to the
gathering of the Bible. Father`s told
their sons and their sons told their sons.
We must share our faith with the next generation of the church will
become extinct.
Asaph says we
must tell the next generation of the praise worthy deeds of God. It could be Abraham, Isaac or Jacob. We could tell of Samson, David, Solomon,
Jesus or the Apostles. We must relay the
greatest story ever known. Asaph says to
tell them about His power and the wonders He has done. Tell them your story as well. We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the
word of our testimony. God has been good
and tell others what He has done for you.
Tell your story your family and friends are waiting.

June 25 – I will think – Psalm 77:12-14
June 25 – I will think – Psalm 77:12-14
This is a
psalm of Jeduthun and Asaph. They
co-authored this psalm and it speaks of meditating on the Lord. Meditation in the biblical sense is thinking
about and pondering for a long time about the Lord. Think about His works and what he has
done. When you count your blessings you
will be surprised what the Lord has done.
They are considering the Lord’s mighty deeds. God moves mightily in the
ordinary. Through the ordinary things of
life as you think about it you can see the Lord’s mighty hand.
The ways of
the Lord are holy and there are no gods but Him. All the rest are wood, stone and metal. Gods we have made out of our imagination or
we have allowed demons to control our lives.
God performs miracles, He displays His power but what He does and all of
this is clear among the people. Moses
led the people of Egypt through mighty signs and wonders. So whether in the obvious or the ordinary God
will be with you today.

June 24 – Great in Israel – Psalm 76:1-3
June 24 – Great in Israel – Psalm 76:1-3
This again is a
psalm of Asaph set to music and best played on a stringed instrument. The psalmist relays that in Judah God is
known. He is the one who guards and
guides this nation. He will be exalted
and worshiped in this nation. Solomon
said that righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any land. Let us pray that in our nation God would be
known. His name is great in all of
Israel. At this time David was King and
the Lord was in the heart of the King.
Let us pray that God will be in the heart of our leaders. When that happens a nation is safe and
secure.
His tent and
dwelling place is Salem and Zion. Salem
means peace and Zion means security.
When God is in a heart, peace and security reign there. He breaks all implements of war. No weapon can prosper against the Lord. Remember that today. In the Lord you have victory, peace,
prosperity, security, success and freedom.
Great promises for this day to ponder.

June 23 – Give thanks – Psalm 75:1
June 23 – Give thanks – Psalm 75:1
This is
another psalm of Asaph with the theme that the Lord will not destroy but give
life. In John 10:10, we get the motive
of operation of how the devil and the Lord works. The devil comes to rob, kill and destroy but
Jesus came to give life and with it abundance.
Asaph reminds his audience of the same thing. We give thanks to the Lord. Praise and worship release abundant
life. We speak into our world that God
will provide beyond what we can think or imagine.
Asaph gave
thanks because the Lord was near. He is
never far away. In fact He is as close
as the mention of His name. Have you
ever cried out Lord, hurry? George
Mueller needed God to meet a need right away.
He cried out and a moment after he prayed a knock came on the door and
the need was met in just a moment. The Lord is always near. Men will tell of your wonderful deeds. This is called a testimony and it is one of two ways to win. The other is the blood of Jesus. Great
thoughts to ponder today.

June 18 – God has forsaken them – Psalm 71:11-12
June 18 – God has forsaken them – Psalm 71:11-12
The psalmist
relays the lies of the enemy. The enemy
would love us to believe that God has forsaken us. We are all alone. That is one of the biggest lies of the
enemy. He loves to isolate people and
get them to believe that they are alone.
This is absolute trash. The Lord
told us in Matt 28:20 that He will never leave or forsake us. The lie is that we can be pursued, seized and
no one will rescue us. God is our
fortress, refuge rescuer and help. He
will never forsake us.
The cry of the
psalmist in this moment was, “Lord do not be very far from me.” Is that your cry today? Lord hurry, come quickly and rescue me. Remember as you go through out this day that
the steps of a good person are ordered by the Lord. Psalm 37:23.
You are not alone. The mighty God
has got your back. The psalmist knew
this and you need to repeat that to yourself today. Say it loud and clear. I am not alone. The angels are camping around me today. Believe and settle this matter in your heart
today.
