April 30 – Our Guide – Psalm 48:14

 April 30 – Our Guide – Psalm 48:14

As we close off this month and psalm here are some things to consider.  God is our God forever.  God will never leave or forsake you.  When He makes a commitment to you He will never revoke it.  Next, God will be our guide right to the end.  Jesus said that the Holy Spirit will lead and guide us.  He will show us God’s will, plan and purpose for your life.  He will take us through everything in life and will be our guide, help, comfort, strength and victory.  You will become an overcomer, victor and conqueror but remember to become these you have to overcome, fight and conquer things and foes.

There is a battle called life but in the end you win.  The Holy Spirit gives resurrection power, anointing and strength for the battle.  He will guide, direct and help you but you have to do the fighting and the warfare.  The world. Flesh and the devil will not let you sail through life unopposed but remember they are already defeated.  Amen

April 29 – We have Heard – Psalm 8-9

 April 29 – We have Heard – Psalm 8-9

The Sons of Korah tell their readers that they have heard but also have seen.  It is their personal experience that Jerusalem is the city of God.  His temple is there and everyday His people exalt and praise Him.  There were choirs designed specifically to worship God.  That was the reason for their existence.  It is the city of their God.  In the mind of the Jewish people this is the only place on earth that God can be truly worshipped.  In vs 8, it says the Lord makes His city secure.  Then in the margin you see the world, selah which means think about this.  God makes His people secure.  Great thought for you to take a moment and think about.  The Lord will never leave you or forsake you.

In vs 9, is says within you temple O God.  You are God and in your temple we meditate, spend time pondering, looking at in a deep manner.  Your unfailing love.  What a thought, God`s love is unfailing.  Everything may change but God’s love is unfailing.  It will always be with you and nothing can separate you from it.  Bask and receive this love today.

April 28 – Great is the Lord – Psalm 48:1-3

April 28 – Great is the Lord – Psalm 48:1-3

We are going to spend the next three days in this Psalm.  It has some many great truths.  In vs 1, the sons of Korah say, “Great is the Lord and He is worthy most of praise.”  Praise is expressing thanks for what God has done.  The Lord is worthy of praise and then they spend the next couple of verses telling why.  The city of Jerusalem is the city of God.  It is the place where God has chosen to put His people and temple.  Recently I was in a Jewish place of worship and in there I saw the history and love that God had for His people.  They remember.

In vs 2, it is beautiful in its situation and it is the joy of the whole earth.  Three major religions claim this as a place of worship.  It truly is a beautiful city.  The writers equate Jerusalem like the great city of Zaphon which was known for its beauty.  Jerusalem is the city of the great King.  Of course we know on the Triumphant entry the city of Jerusalem welcome Jesus Christ the great King.  In vs 3, God is in the citadels and shows Himself throughout the fortress.  The city is the earthly habitation of the Lord they were saying.  Today we are the temple of the Holy Spirit.  He will show His glory through us.  Be that vessel today.

April 24 – Love Righteousness – Psalm 45:7

 April 24 – Love Righteousness – Psalm 45:7

Another one of the psalms written by the Sons of Korah.  It was set to music to show the beauty of God and creation.  The psalmist encourages his readers to love righteousness and hate wickedness.  This is one of the secrets to promotion.  The Lord is righteous and so righteousness is his trademarks.  When you are upright and blameless one of the things that make you stand out is the joy of the Lord.  Joy Is deep seated contentment.  It is more than happiness which is based on circumstances and emotions.  Joy is based in the knowledge that your future is secure and that nothing can move you from peace and inner contentment.  The Lord is the only one who truly gives this moment by moment.  So today let the Lord give you love, righteousness and joy.

April 23 – The arm of the Lord - Psalm 44:3 & 7

April 23 – The arm of the Lord - Psalm 44:3 & 7

This is a psalm of the Korah one of David`s singers and musicians.  It was a maskil which is taking a piece of written literature and putting music to it to teach the audience the Hebrew language much like Psalm 119 was.

The psalmist reminds his audience that the land was not won through their might, skill or resources of the warriors of the day.  It was won through the right hand of God.  When Joshua took the land it was because the Lord was with Him.  The Jordan did not stop flowing because of the Israelites but because God did it.  Jericho`s wall did not fall because of the might of Israelite army but God`s power brought it down.  It happen because of the Lord`s love for His people and His mighty right hand.  In Jewish thought the right hand was the might of God and the left hand was His mercy.

In vs 7, the Lord was the one that gave the Israelites the victory over their enemies and put their adversaries to shame.  The ancient world was a dark and violent place.  Empires rose and fell.  Israel was a small nation in the sea of humanity but God was their victory and help.  In this violent and dark world the Lord can be yours in the same way.  Put your trust in Him today.

April 21 – Hope in the Lord – Psalm 42:11

April 21 – Hope in the Lord – Psalm 42:11

The Sons of Korah wrote and sang this song in the time of David.  Their theme was to speak to their soul.  Once again they put the question.  Why are you cast down oh my soul?  They had been disturbed in their mind, will and emotions.  Something was not right.  They knew they were out of sync with something or someone.  They knew they needed help.  So they told themselves to put their hope in their Lord.  Hope comes when you believe you will have a tomorrow.  You believe that things will get better.  You know you have someone in your corner who will not fail you.  This is the Lord.

The secret of success in this instant is putting your hope in the unshakable God.  It is praising Him in every situation.  Praise is thanking the Lord for what He has done.  Sometimes it is praising Him even before the answer has come.  It is speaking those things that aren’t as if they are.  This is not presumption but faith.  Inside your spirit you know what God has said and you are agreeing with Him.  The psalmist closes reminding the audience that God is Savior and God.  Let us let God be God.  Turn your life to Him and see what He can do.
