 Feb 8 – Devotion on Ephesians

 

16 and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.

 

     In Vs 16, Paul continues on with his thought that Jesus Christ through His death on the cross reconciles both Jew and Gentile into one body. That all hostility between the two was done with. Jesus through His sacrifice created a oneness, unity, and peace between God and man and man with man. Jesus Christ is the great peacemaker. His sacrifice on the cross accomplished so much. The word atonement if broken down means at one ment. Jesus created a bridge between all that was hostile in the world. He is the healer of all hatred, prejudice, hostility, and bias in the world. He came to set the captive free. To break all bondage whether created by ourselves, the world, or the devil. Jesus put to death on the cross the power of death, hell, and the grave. His death rendered all powers of darkness in whatever form they may come useless. He reckons all hostility dead through His death.
