Waiting on the Lord
- Seventy Eight
There is an
old song based on Isaiah 40:31, which states that they who wait on the Lord
will renew their strength, they shall mount up as wings as eagles, they shall
run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. The secret of waiting is watching, walking in
faith, expectation and moving when the answer comes. We have some powerful examples from
scripture. Joseph waited some 17 years
before he was promoted to Prime Minister.
Abraham waited 25 years before he saw the baby Isaac. Paul waited 14 years for his promotion to
apostle. Jesus waited 30 years before He
was revealed as the Son of God and Moses waited 40 years for his role as
lawgiver.
Waiting is providential discipline for those who have been given a great
work. If you find yourself waiting then
allow the Lord to renew you with His strength.
Your waiting time is a time of trust and tension. You feel trust because you have the promise
of God and tension because no one likes to wait. You feel like a racer at the starting
gate. You know any time the gun is going
to go off but you are anxious to make sure you get off to a good start. The Lord knows what you are feeling and
facing and all He asks of you is to trust Him.
Faith in its simplest terms is trust.
Do you trust God? Are you willing
to wait for the best? One time there was
a man who was told to wait at a certain corner and his beloved would come. He waited for a period of time and almost
when he was about to give up she showed up and they have been happily married
for a number of years. If he has given
up too soon who knows where he would have been and with whom. So wait on the Lord. He is working
on your behalf. He is arranging
people, circumstances and situations on your behalf. It takes time to move heaven and earth on
your behalf. There is a lot of free will
to overcome but God will always have perfect timing. Seek first the Kingdom of God and His
righteousness and all things will be added unto you. So wait and see the salvation of your God.
