In the Dead of Winter

In the Dead of Winter  -  Eighty eight

Canada for the most part is a country where most of it is locked in winter for at least six months a year.  Starting from the first of November till at least end of April snow and ice is a distinct possibility.  In the dead of winter it is hard to believe that spring will ever come again.  Under that blanket of snow and ice vegetation is dormant.  What it needs is warmth and sunlight to bring it back to life.  Many people in the church of Canada are in the winter of their souls.  They have let the things of this world freeze the spiritual life they once had.  Discouragement, neglect, choices, or the busyness of life have made a once vibrant relationship with God grow cold.  This process like the onset of winter was gradual.  Winter doesn’t show up all in one day it takes a series of weeks before it has fully set in.  There are freezes and thaws before it fully does it work.  This happens in spiritual walks.  There are seasons of warmth and then extended periods when one’s relationship with God is cold.  Over time those times of coldness become longer and longer until the winter of the soul has set in.
Very few intend to become cold but when one does not read their bible, pray daily, frequent the house of the Lord or actively share their faith by testimony or word it can and will happen.  So where are you?  Is your relationship God strong, vibrant and healthy or have you been experiences times of freeze and thaw?  Are your periods of coldness becoming longer and longer?  Are you in the winter of your faith?
The Lord wants you back.  He wants you to have a dynamic faith.  He wants you to be release from this darkness of soul.  That happens by embracing His Son and the warmth He brings.  Ask Jesus to be an active part of your life.  Invite the Holy Spirit to fill you again.  Make a decision to release yourself.  Choose again the path of the bible, prayer and returning to church.  It will be hard at first.  Winter never likes to leave but as the warmth of spring continues eventually its stranglehold on the earth is broken.  That can happen to you.  You can break free.  The Lord will help you but to be free and stay free is your choice
