June 15 – Sure Salvation – Psalm 69:13

June 15 – Sure Salvation – Psalm 69:13

This psalm was written by David and reminds us that even when we feel like we are in a pit or hopeless situation God is with us.  In this psalm we are reminded of three truths.  First, when we pray God will give us His favor in His time.  Favor is a blessing or honor bestowed on someone not worthy.  It is also grace. God is the God of the perfect timing.  He knows exactly when to bring divine intervention.  Our part is to trust Him.

The next truth revealed here is the Lord’s great love.  God’s love is love with no strings attached.  Love that comes to release, heal, restore and forgive.  David had experienced time and time again and you can too.  Lastly, the Lord will answer with His sure salvation.  God’s promises are rock solid.  His salvation is sure.  Nothing can separate us from God’s love.  Salvation is a free gift and all who trust in the Lord will have a sure and solid salvation.

June 14 – Escape – Psalm 68:19-20

June 14 – Escape – Psalm 68:19-20

David was thanking the Lord in these verses for the fact that the Lord was daily taking care of his burdens and needs.  God has promised to supply every need according to His riches in glory.  This is something to thank the Lord for.  Jesus proved this when he had Peter go and catch a fish to pay the temple tax.  Provision sometimes comes in unusual ways but it does come.

David then reminds us that we serve a God who saves.  A modern day chorus reminds that our God is mighty to save and how true that is.  He is the sovereign God who helps us escape death.  Pastor Ken Bunting use to say, “that we have escape from death unto life.”  Death has lost its sting through Jesus Christ.  Great promises for us to think about today.

THE POWEROF PRAYER

Today I had the privilege of once again reading 2 Chron 7:14, which tells, us to humble ourselves, pray, seek His face and turn from our wicked ways.  The promise in this verse that God will hear from heaven, forgive our sin and heal our land.  This is such an important factor especially these days of trouble and turmoil.  As I write this vignette our nation is beset by a pandemic that now tops over 200,000 cases and some 10000 people have died.  Covid 19 is a virus right from the pit of hell.  Yet God can use this virus to bring people back to Himself.  As fear grips the nation we as the people of God can proclaim a message of love, power and sound mind.  Remember as a citizen of heaven we are pilgrims passing through.  We are not settlers.  For us this is not as good as it gets.  Prayer is one way we can keep connected to the supernatural world.  Prayer is our avenue to which we can receive all the benefits of heaven.  When we pray we are inviting the Lord into our lives and situation.  The answer to every situation is only a prayer away.  Dan 9:23 and 10:12 tells us that even before we say the request the answer is already on the way.  What a great promise and reality.  So today do not fear, anxiety and worry rob you of your blessings in the Lord.  Pray and get ready to receive.

Vignettes of Prayer

Vignettes of Prayer

I am amazed that prayer is such a blessing but it is.  It also amazing that the creator of the universe would want to spend time with me every day.  George Mueller was called the Prince of prayer believed that God was concerned about the smallest details of our lives.  Think about this, the creator of the universe is concerned about the smallest detail of his creation.  Jesus said that when a sparrow falls to the ground God knows about it.  That is amazing.  Recently we got a puppy who we called Baxter.  Now Baxter has brought a joy and confusion into our lives.  He loves to chase our cats and chew up our stuffies.  This is a small detail but let me give you the back story.  Baxter is a result of our British Bulldog named Balder becoming old and impaired.  We know that Balder is coming to the end of his life and he has been with us for almost ten years.    When we found of from the Vet that Balder’s time was coming to an end my wife was sad.  We then discussed the next phase of our pet situation and Lois told me she would love to have a Labrador Retriever next.  She then went on line and on a local market site low and behold there were Lab pups available and for a decent price.  She met the breeders and in one day we had Baxter.  This is a small detail in the scheme of life but God provided.  So my exhortation today is give all the details of your life to the Lord and the Lord will provide as you trust him.  Tell God what is happening and you will be amazed how He answers.
