Aug 13 – It is written – Psalm 102:18

     The psalmist has a wish and desire.  What He has written will be a record for future generations.  The

Bible is God’s written account of His dealing with mankind.  It is a picture of His character and nature.  It

Is a written record of His plan of salvation.  Man broke his relationship with God and God restored it

through Jesus Christ.  The Bible records earth’s beginning and end.  It tells of how Israel began and how

it will end.  In the beginning God g=created the heavens and the earth.  In the end He will create a new

heaven and earth. 

     This psalmist is a witness of the goodness of God in this generation and the generations to come. 

Mankind needs salvation and God has provided it.  The Bible is a book written about the human

condition and why we are as we are.  It is also a book of hope. 

Holy Fire

Holy Fire – Ninety Five

     There is a song about holy fire.  A fire that burns within the heart of a person on fire for Christ.  It burns away all the sin and dross.  It ignites a love for God that burns brightly in a dark sin sick world.  It consumes all the things of this world.  It lights the way for those walking in darkness.  We are called to be a light in this world.  We are not to hide this light under a bushel but let it shine brightly in our world.  This fire as well warms the life of all who come into contact with it.  Yet in time if not fed with the right kind of material it can dim and even go out.  So what is the fuel for the fire of God?

     The fuel for this fire firstly, is the word of God.  The word of God must be read every day for the fire to not only continue but grow brighter and brighter.  The Bible is food for the spirit and soul.  It feeds the inner man.  It allows the fire to grow and warm the heart.  The Bible fuels the Spirt onto greater and more powerful things.  David wrote in Psalm 99:3, that his heart grew hot as he meditated on the word of God.  It burned and then it led him to speak what was in his heart to those in his world.  This will happen to you as you think and meditate on the Word of God.  The Bible teaches us about the Lord and the more knowledge we receive the greater the desire to share this knowledge and to bring understanding to our listeners.

     Jeremiah once tried to supress the message because of all the trouble it was causing but it burned within Him and He had to release it.  Fire if not release burns the vessel.  God wants to release His fire through you.  One of the symbols for the Holy Spirit is fire.  He purifies our heart.  He consumes the sin and dross in our lives.  He makes us warm inside to the Lord and He uses us to bring light to the dark world we live in.  Today let that inward fire glow and then release it to those in your world.  They need a light and you have it in your through Jesus Christ.  Remember the Sunday School song, “This little light of mine, I am going to let it shine.”  Let it shine in your world and let it glow through you.  John Wesley said, :I want to be fire for God.”  Let that be your heart cry today. 

Encourage

1 Thess 5:11 says, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”

It takes time and effort to be supportive and it takes the time to respond with something as simple as “You rock!” or go girl but it can make such a difference. 

Here are 6 reasons to encourage people

1. You can make others feel good

2. You can keep their fire lit

3. You’ll make true friends that will never forget you

4. You can gain an ally that will bring you opportunities in the future

5. It keeps you motivated.  

 6. You create ripples in the world

It can come in the form of a Facebook , a text message, a phone call, an email, a handwritten letter,  even the prehistoric face-to-face! It can be as simple as “Good job!” It only takes you a couple of seconds, but it’s worth so much more.

Here are seven encouragement scriptures for you. 

Isaiah 43:2:  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

Joshua 1:9:  Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Proverbs 18:10:  The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

Psalm 31:24:  Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD.

Proverbs 3:5-6:  Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4:  Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

Isaiah 41:10:  So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Intro:  Paul explains why we have a body and why we are fashion the way we are.

1.     We are to show an all surpassing power that is from God and not us.  We are His hands, feet, and voice. Vs7

2.     The four effects of being a disciple of Jesus Christ. Vs 8-9

a.     We are hard pressed on every side but not crushed.

b.     Perplexed but not in despair.

c.      Persecuted but not abandoned.

d.     Struck down but not destroyed,

3.     We always carry in our body the death of Jesus.  Resurrection power is in us.

(Rom 8:11)  This happens so the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

We have eternal and abundant life.  John 3:16 and John 10:10

 

Cain

It is the weekend and here is a thought to ponder. Cain is an example of a man who tried to get God`s approval through man made methods. So follow God's way and you will not make the mistakes this man made and you will have the blessing and approval of God.
