Feb 4 – Psalm 16:8 -
I will praise the Lord
David today in
Psalm 16, has been talking to the Lord about his current state of life. He then comforts himself and says to
Himself. The Lord is going to counsel
me.” Jesus told us in the book of John
that the Holy Spirit will counsel us and will guide us into all truth. You never have to be confused. David then talks about how so many times as
we are laying in bed and things have slowed down and are quiet. That is when our heart instructs us. Things are so much clearer when the voices of
the day are silent and God can speak.
Remember when Elijah was on the Mount and God did not speak through the
wind, thunder or earthquake. He spoke in
the still small voice.
David then
made a decision that he would set the Lord always before Him. God was his front and rear guard. He was going to do things God’s way. God was in control. David knew the Lord was at his right hand. In Jewish thought the right hand was the
symbol of power. God’s power was there
and so David would never be shaken.
Stability, was paramount to David.
Life was already unstable enough for David. He knew with God at His right hand, he would
be safe, secure and stable.
