John’s Doubt

John’s Doubt – Matt 11:1-19 and Luke 7:18-35

Yesterday we learned that even man of faith like John can have doubts.  Doubt is a normal part of the journey of faith.  It comes but it must not stay.  Jesus then afterward gave a teaching on John.  When people went out into the desert they saw a real prophet when they went to see John.
John’s work was to prepare the way of the Lord.  There is no one greater than John.  Jesus however taught that the least in the Kingdom was greater than John.  If you want to be great in God’s Kingdom you have to learn to be the servant of all.  You must also be willing to be last before you can come first
Jesus said that the Kingdom was advancing, but some were trying to stop it.  Those would have been the religious leaders.  You cannot stop God’s Kingdom.  John was the man that the prophets told about.  He is the Elijah and people needed to hear what he was saying.  The Apostle John recorded to his letters to the church that we need to hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.
