Abraham the Father of the Faithful  -  Seventeen

      The Lord has given us many examples to follow but the Father of the faithful is one of the best.  He is a man of generosity and charity.  He defended the weak and interceded for the wicked.  He fought in prayer for Sodom and was their advocate even though their sin was insurmountable.  He did not allow himself to be corrupted by the world or the things around him.  He was not polluted by the world.  He was a man who was looking for a city whose maker and builder was God.  He was mighty in prayer, he prayed for Sarah’s ability to bear children which was granted in due season.   His visions and conversations with God were intimate and powerful.  The Lord wants this type of relationship with all His people.  Abraham was wonderful in his faith.  He is listed in Hebrews 1, in the Hall of Faith.  He was willing to offer the best he had and we must be willing to do the same.  Let him be a role model in your life today.  Look to the Lord like Abraham as the author and finisher of your faith.  Refuse to be corrupted or polluted by the world around you.  Fight in prayer even for your enemies.  Draw close and be intimate with God.  Walk in generosity and charity.  Love unconditionally and with purpose.  Let nothing sidetrack you.  Stand still and see the salvation of your God.  Be a child of faith and follow the example of Abraham.
