Jan 6 – Why Rage – Psalm 2:12
Jan 6 – Why Rage – Psalm 2:12
This psalm asks the question, “why is man the way we are. Life at times can seem so futile especially
without the Lord. Most pursue wealth, fame, position and power. Sometimes they attain what they
want and then find out how hollow these are. Solomon said that all is vanity. You can get everything
you want and lose it all. You can gain the whole world and lose your soul.
The psalmist states that all take refuge in the Lord will be blessed. This you will discover is one of the
main themes of this book. All who trust in the Lord will be blessed. True blessing only comes from the
Lord. What He gives lasts not only a lifetime but also well into eternity. Jesus said to lay up treasures in
heaven. Seems a logical choice. Abundant life or death. I think I will take life, how about you?

Jan 5 – He Watches – Psalm 1:6
Jan 5 – He Watches – Psalm 1:6
This verse is both a positive and negative verse. Positive because when you are righteous you love the fact that the Lord is watching you. Negative if you are wicked. One of the themes of churches in Rev 2 and 3, is that you have an audience of one. The Lord knows what you are doing. He knows the thoughts and intents of your hearts. He is the one who weighs our motives. He watches over everything and everyone. He sees every tear, hears every laugh and listens to every conversation. He knows why you do what you do. You cannot fool Him and when He judges you it will be fair and just because He has all the information. You cannot lie, bribe or justify yourself to Him. God is all knowing.
The righteous will shine as lights in this dark world. We have a hope and a future. The wicked have only one future death and judgment. In fact the writer of Hebrews says that we have but one life to live and then judgment. You can have eternal and abundant life through Jesus Christ or you can be wicked and perish in hell. Seems to me to be a simple choice. Choose the Lord and live today.

Jan 4 – The wicked – Psalm 1:4-5
Jan 4 – The wicked – Psalm 1:4-5
David then gives us a picture of what happens to the wicked. First, everything they do will come to nothing. There are like chaff. They will blow away in the winds of life. They have no stability. They have no root or resources to sustain them when the trials of life come. They will not have abundant or a fruitful life. Imagine spending your life, gaining, producing or receiving nothing of value . When I was working at a Care Centre I remember a man called Alex Guschinsky. He died at the age of 77 a resident of that institution. He had relatives but when it came time for his funeral no one came but the preacher, the funeral director and me. I came because I was assigned to on behalf of the Care Centre. I thought wow, here is a man who live 77 years and no one came to his funeral except those who were assigned to do so. What a sad day. I vowed that would never happen to me. I am so blessed with a loving wife, 4 wonderful children, grandchildren, family and friends. You can gain the whole world and lose your soul. Today be righteous and have a fruitful and meaningful life. Don’t be wicked because you will be like the popular pop song, “Nothing but dust in the wind.”
