Sept 28 - Death – Psalm 116:15
Sept 28 - Death – Psalm 116:15
The subject of
today’s devotion can be either sad or happy.
When someone thinks about death it brings many emotions to mind. For some it brings fear and dread. To others it reminds them of their mortality
and the uncertainty of life. To the
child of God it is just a passing from one reality to another. The Christian looks forward to death with
anticipation for they know it is a promotion.
The psalmist says precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His
saints. The Lord is the author of death of life. Birth is the beginning of life and death is
the end. Man has a beginning but no
end.
The Lord anticipates
and looks forward to eternal relationship with His people. Jesus conquered death, hell and the
grave. That is why Paul stated in 1 Cor
15, that death has lost it sting and victory.
When a Christian passes into eternity it is not a defeat but
victory. We will ever be with the
Lord. Paul stated that to live is Christ
but to die is gain. Nothing is this life
is as wonderful as what waits for the child of God in eternity. The Lord has more than once allowed me to see
into eternity what awaits for all of us to know the Lord is beyond
description. So neve fear death but look
forward to the greatest promotion yet.

Sept 26 - Be at Rest – Psalm 116:7
Sept 26 - Be at Rest – Psalm 116:7
This is such a
great verse. This phrase, “Be at rest oh
my soul,” is something we need to speak from time to time to our inner man. When anxiety, fear, doubt and stress
enters. Be at rest oh my soul. When my will, intellect and emotions are
running away with the crisis of the moment be at rest. When your time, talents and resources have
fail to bring about the end of a problem be at rest. When you are at the end of your rope and do
not know what to do, be at rest.
The psalmist
then reminds his soul and ours that the Lord has and will be good to us. If you took time to look at your life and did
what the song writer said. The song
writer tells you to count your many blessings, name them one by on and it will
surprise you what the Lord has done.
Irving Berlin states that when our bank roll gets kind of small. Just remember when you had none at all and
then you will count your blessings. God
will be good to those who call on Him so today call on Him and then rest. The es is on the way.

Sept 25 – Gracious Lord – Psalm 116:6-7
Sept 25 – Gracious Lord – Psalm 116:6-7
There are so
many great things in these two verses.
The Lord is gracious. He reaches
out to sinful man and extends to him a merciful hand. Remember grace is fist and foremost unmerited
favor. We did not get what we
served. Jesus showed this numerous times
in His ministry. The gospel states that
Jesus was moved with compassion. The
Lord is righteous. There is no evil in
the Lord. He is complete and totally
love and light. He is always right. He
moves in compassion. Jesus always moved
with compassion. This is the nature and
character of God. He is love and love
always has compassion on those who need it.
The Lord
protected those who come like little children.
Jesus said the person who has childlike faith will always welcome in the
Kingdom of God. If you want to great in
God’s kingdom you have to come like a child.
A child does not question they just believe what they are told. The psalmist was in great distress and the
Lord saved him. The Lord loves to come
and help in the nick of time. God is
never early or late. He is always on
time so remember that today.

Psalm 112:1-2t 20 – Mighty in the Land -
Sept 20 – Mighty in the Land -
Psalm 112:1-2
The writer of
this psalm starts out by stating a man is blessed when he fears and respects
God. God has life and death in His
hands. He is the reason we live and He
is the giver of even the air we breathe.
The psalmist points out that blessing comes when you find great delight
in the Lord’s commands. Desire will
always turn to delight when your passion is for the Lord. Passion always bring focus and
direction. Passion comes out of
love. When you love someone or something
it will be the focus of your attention, time, talents and resources.
The results of
being passionate about the Lord is that this passion is often passed onto our
children. God wants to bless the
generations. You rep what you sow. If you are passionate about the Lord you will
raise children who will have that same passion.
When the Lord is fears the Lord and has a passion for God. They will be mighty in the land and their
children will touch the generations.
What a great promise from the word of God. Phillip was an example where his faith was
passed unto his family. In Acts 21, it
states that Philip had 4 daughter and each one was a prophet. What a great legacy? You too can have one as well just follow the
advice in this psalm.

Sept 19 – The Fear of the Lord – Psalm 111:10
Sept 19 – The Fear of the Lord
– Psalm 111:10
Solomon would based many of his proverbs
on this verse. David was the first one
to quote this. He
Then says that all who follow
the Lord’s precepts have good understanding.
These two elements
Are essential to godly
wisdom. James would later teach that
earthly wisdom is demonic. It comes from
The pit of hell. It sounds good on the surface but when you
break it down is focuses on selfishness and
Sin. Godly wisdom comes from above. It is birthed and made complete in the
Lord. He is the source
And finisher of wisdom.
David closes
the psalm off by saying all praise belong to the Lord. The Lord is the creator and sustainer of all
things. In Him all things were created
and are kept by Him. Wisdom is given
liberally to all who wish for it. In
fact in the proverbs wisdom is liken to a person calling in the streets for all
to come and share in its fruit. The
fruit of wisdom is knowledge, understanding and insight. Who would not want this?

Sept 17 – Works of His hands – Psalm 111:7
Sept 17 – Works of His hands – Psalm 111:7
This psalm
contains a total of twenty promises. In
the previous verses the writer talks about the majestic Lord.
He then says that the works of the Lord are faithful and just. The Lord is faithful. He
Will never leave you or forsake you. He will be true and just to His
promises. Paul says that the promises of
God are yes and amen. A promise is a
truth given. You back up what you say
with action.
God will faithful and just to what He says. God cannot lie because it would goes against
His nature.
The psalmist then reveals that the word of
the Lord is trustworthy. You can trust
the Lord. He will
Not make a promise, covenant
or agreement that He will break. David
saw this when God promised
Him a descendent a ruler and
Jesus Christ is ruling now in the hearts of His people and one day He
Will rule all the earth. What
a time that will be when the world is rule with, truth, equity, justice and
Righteousness.
