Proverb of Steel
Before a man can be free of greed he must get a
new creed. Only Jesus can free him indeed.
The Blame Game
The Blame Game – Romans 5:1-3
Vs 1 – Paul begins this chapter with the thought that we
have been justified which means to be free of guilt or blame and to be made
right. This process happened through the
avenue of faith. The results of this act
brought peace with God. You are no
longer at war with God but are at peace with Him. This was brought through our Lord Jesus
Christ. It is through Him we have these
graces.
Vs 2 – You have gained this access to God through
faith. Paul says we are made right
through faith and faith alone. We are
now walking in the grace of God. Grace
is more than unmerited favor. It is a
complete position of blessing and divine favor.
Paul says we stand in this. It is
our title position and our residence.
This allows us rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. The characteristics, nature and essence of
God are our hope in this journey of life.
Vs 3 – So we have the ability to endure suffering in any
form because we know that suffering produces perseverance. Jesus learned obedience by what He suffered
and so will we.

Jesus is the answer to all situations and problems in life. Who He sets free is free indeed. So today invite Him in and see Him turn everything around and make your life what God intended it to be.

Unwavering Faith
Unwavering Faith – Romans 4:22-25
Vs 22 - This
unwavering faith was the reason Abraham was declared righteous and holy in the
sight of God. Faith and faith alone
justifies.
Vs 23 – These words are not just for Abraham alone. This promise is not for Abraham only. This verse is a teaser for the next verse.
Vs 24 – This is for us.
For all of us who believe in God.
We have been declared and righteous because of our belief, trust and
faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ, who was dead, buried and raised from the dead. Jesus Christ our Lord who was raised from the
dead.
Vs 25 – Two powerful facts close off this chapter. Jesus Christ was delivered over to death for
our sins. Next, He was raised to life
for our justification. What a final
statement. What an exclamation point.

Great things are done when you find others of like mind. This is especially true in families. So today touch others in your world. Let the Lord guide you in this process. The Promise
Romans 4:16-18 – The Promise
Vs 16 – Paul brings out three truths in this verse. First, all promises in God come by
faith. Next, these promises are
guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring, whether they are Jew or Gentile. Lastly, Abraham is the Father of us all.
Vs 17 – In Gen 22:18, God told Abraham that he would be the
father of many nations. He is the Father
of all in the sight of the God in whom Abraham believed in. God gives life to the dead. Those dead in trespasses in sin or dead in
the things of God. He calls things which
are not as though they were. God sees
and does the impossible,
Vs 18 - There was no
hope for Abraham. Against all hope
Abraham believed in God’s word and promise and became the Father of many
nations. In the same manner God works
with us as his off spring.

Value of the Law
Value of the Law – Roman 4:15-17
Vs 15 – Paul again re-emphasizes the value of the law. It exposed sin and reported of God’s
wrath. If there was no law man kind
would not be aware of their transgressions and sins.
Vs 16 – Paul brings out three truths in this verse. First, all promises in God come by
faith. Next, these promises are
guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring, whether they are Jew or Gentile. Lastly, Abraham is the Father of us all.

Father of Faithful -
Romans 4:12-14
Vs 12 – Abraham is the Father and founder of the Jewish
nation. They are the circumcised but
they walk in faith like Abraham before he was circumcised.
Vs 13 – Paul makes it clear that Abraham and his off spring

law but by faith. Faith brings

Proverb of Steel
Understanding is knowing what you can do about your life
and what is beyond your control. Wisdom is trusting God to take care of
the things that are beyond our control.
The Point
The Point – Romans 4:10-12
Vs 10 – When did Abraham become righteous? It was before the act of circumcision not
after. Being circumcised is the outward
of the inward act.
Vs 11 – Paul brings this point out here. Abraham was righteous before the act of
circumcision. It was outward sign or
seal of his faith. Abraham became the
Father of the faithful in the same way he became righteous and so do all who
follow His example. We walk by faith and
faith alone.
Vs 12 – Abraham is the Father and founder of the Jewish
nation. They are the circumcised but
they walk in faith like Abraham before he was circumcised.

Vs 7 – You are blessed for two reasons. First, your transgressions have been
forgiven. Secondly, your sins have been
forgiven. What a wonderful truth.
Vs 8 – You are blessed because your sins will never be held
against you. To have forgiveness, peace
with God and never have your sin being brought back to your attention.
Vs 9 – Is this blessedness only for the Jews. No. It is universal. The Gentiles receive the same
opportunity. Abraham’s faith was the
thing that brought about His righteousness.

The gift
The gift – Rom 4:4-6
Vs 4 – Paul uses the illustration of a man who works for a
living, his wages are given to him as an obligation not as a gift. Salvation is a free gift with an expensive
price for the giver.
Vs 5 – When a person knows that it not works that justify. Their trust in God accounts for righteousness. It is the wicked who try to work their way
into heaven.
Vs 6 – David another man who had a vibrant relationship with
God speaks of this thought. The man who
is blessed is one who walks in faith.
They know their faith in the Lord is the foundation for righteousness
and not works.

Abraham
Abraham – Romans 4:1-3
Vs 1-2 – Paul uses
Abraham as an example. If anyone should
have been able to boast it should have been Abraham. If any one could have been justified works it
was Him. He certainly could have boasted
in His works but not before God. God
looks at the heart .
Vs 3 - The scriptures
are clear though. Abraham believed
God. He trusted in God and His
word. This alone made Him righteous in
God sight. Isaiah says that our

two questions that are also statements.
Is God the God of the Jews only?
Is He not the God of the Gentiles as well? Then He answers the questions. “Yes, He is the God of the Gentiles. He is the universal God.

universal God. Both Jew and Gentile are
justified through the same means and method, through faith.
Vs 31 – Paul closes this
chapter off with another question? Do we
nullify or discount the law by walking in faith? “Not at all,” Paul says. The law is upheld by faith. Faith is the foundation of the law.

Declared Righteous
Declared Righteous – Rom 3:45-26
Vs 24 – What a wonderful
series of truths that are to be revealed.
Mankind has been justified and declared righteous. This was wrought freely by God’s grace. We have received unmerited favor. It is God’s riches at Christ’s expense. This redemption came by and through Christ
Jesus.
Vs 25 – God presented Him as
the atoning sacrifice. When Jesus hung
between heaven and earth, His public execution and shed blood gave us
salvation. This reality and truth must
be accepted by faith. God did this to
demonstrate His justice. He had left sin
unpunished by His patience.

Essay of Faith – Rom 3;21-24
Vs 21 – Paul now begins his great

would testify of. The foundations of
Jewish faith testify of righteousness apart from the law.
Vs 22 – This righteousness
comes from God. It comes through faith
in Jesus Christ to those who believe and put their trust in His finished work

The Bible teaches we are to redeem the time. The
problem today is not that we don't have the time but our use of it. We
spend to much time on us and not enough on God or others.
God’s Glory
God’s Glory – Romans 3:7-9
Vs 7 – It is obvious from
this verse that someone had used the following argument. My falsehood enhances or brings out God’s
truthfulness and so increases His glory.
Following that reasoning in the mind of that person they say, “Why am I
condemned as a sinner.” This is logic
according to Plato and Socrates.
Vs 8 – Paul reports here that
some have slandered him and his party by saying that Paul had said, “Let us do
evil that good may result” Paul denies
this and says those who have said this will be condemned and their condemnation
is well deserved.

There are five indicators your are backsliding.
First, you do not read your bible everyday. Secondly, you do not pray
everyday. Thirdly, you did not go to church this past Sunday.
Fourthly, you have not shared your faith in the past month. Fifthly, you
try to defend why you have not done the first four.
God is True
God is True – Rom 3:4-6
Vs 4 – Paul answers His two
questions. Not at all. God will always be true. Every man will be a liar but God cannot be
any thing but true. To lie would go
against His character and nature. Lying
is part of man’s make up and character.
Paul then quotes an ancient Jewish writing. “You have to prove you are
right in your words and prevail in truth in how you judge others.”
Vs 5 – Paul points out that
our unrighteousness brings out God righteousness. There is a clear distinction between what we
bring to the table and what God does.
Can we say that God is unjust when He brings His wrath upon us? Never!
Paul points out that he is using human arguments in this analogy.
Vs 6 – Man does not right to
tell God how to judge. He cannot be
unjust. He is righteous and He can judge
the world fairly.
Verse Today
Isaiah 40:31New International Version (NIV)

Great Advantage
Great Advantage – Rom 3:1-3
Vs 1 - Paul asks two questions. Is there is an advantage in being a Jew and
what value is there in being circumcised?
Very good questions considering the subject that He has been discussing.
Vs 2 – Paul points out that
the Jews have been entrusted with much.
They have been given the responsibility of relating and writing the very
words of God. Scripture is God breathed
and God ordained.
Vs 3 – Paul then brings out two
thoughts here in the format of asking questions. What if someone does not have faith? Will their lack of faith nullify God’s
faithfulness? God is faithful even when
we are not.

Righteous Living
Righteous Living – Romans 1:29-32
Vs 29 - As a result of their apostasy Paul lists 23
sins that damn the soul.
Unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness,
full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity and whisperers.
Vs 30. Paul continues on with his list. Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud,
boasters, inventing evil things and disobedient to parents.
Vs 31 – Paul finishes up his
list in this verse. Without
understanding, breakers of covenants, without natural affection, implacable and
unmerciful. All this is a result of God
allowing them to give themselves over to their lusts.
Vs 32 – What is terrible is through
out this verse is that the apostate knows judgment is coming but they neither
fear God or His judgment. They know that
these things they do are worthy of death but they encourage others to do them
and take pleasure in them.
New Way
Well it is a brand new year and here is your first thought. When you are in the time of struggle the question is not, "Why Lord, but what do you want me to learn here?" Each year and day presents new challenges and opportunities. Include the Lord in all you do and let Him direct your path. He will never leave you or forsake you and you will win and become what the Lord wants you to be.
