Introduction of Romans
Romans 1:1-3 – Introduction
of Romans
Vs 1 – Paul is a servant of
Jesus Christ. He was called to be an
apostle. To live a separated life for
the Gospel or Good News of God.
Vs 2 – This was a promise
written about by the prophets in the Holy Scriptures.
Vs 3 - God’s Son is Jesus Christ our Lord. He is the Seed of David. God’s promise to David, come in the
flesh. He is God with a face. God walking among us.

Tell the truth
It is the middle of the week and here is a reality check. When you lie be prepared for the truth to expose you. So tell the truth and never fear a lie because you will not tell it.

Live Loud
Romans 2:27-29 - Live Loud
Vs 27 – They can accuse and condemn you of being a law
breaker if you do not keep the requirements and written code of the law. Paul is saying actions speak louder than
words. Being a Jew is of great value if
you keep the requirements of the law but none if you do not keep the law.
Vs 28 – Paul then puts it clear and precise. A person is not a Jew if only outwardly and
circumcision is of no value it is only physical. The heart makes a person a Jewish inwardly
and outwardly.
Vs 29 – A person is a true Jew when their heart has been
circumcised inwardly by the Holy Spirit and not a written code. God will praise
them and exalt them. Rules, traditions,
ceremonies, regulations and physical marks may get men’s praise but not God’s.

Tuesday Thought
It is Tuesday and here is your thought for today. Never take anything in life for granted except God`s love and goodness. These are two constants. God loves you and he will be good to you. What you can do in return is be good and love others in His name. This marks you as His child.

His Patience
Romans 2:25-27 – His patience
Vs 25 – God presented Him as
the atoning sacrifice. When Jesus hung
between heaven and earth, His public execution and shed blood gave us
salvation. This reality and truth must
be accepted by faith. God did this to
demonstrate His justice. He had left sin
unpunished by His patience.
Vs 26 – His justice was now
demonstrated. Jesus became our
substitute and a person is justified when they put their faith in Jesus.
Vs 27 – Paul says if you are
going to boast about being excluded from judgment. The principle you should boast of is not
found in law but in faith. Faith in the
finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross, His burial and ultimately in His
resurrection.

Romans 2:22-24 – True Heart
Vs 22 – You tell others not to commit adultery. Do you commit adultery? You say you abhor idols but do you rob
temples?
Vs 23 – Paul then reveals their true heart. They brag about the law but then dishonor God
by breaking the law.
Vs 24 – Jesus then quotes a Jewish sage, “As it is written,

Guide for Blind
Romans 2:19-21 – Guide for Blind
Vs 19 – If you are convinced that you are a guide for the
blind and a light to those in darkness?
Vs 20 – An instructor of the foolish and a teacher of
infants? This is because you believe in
the law you have the embodiment of knowledge and truth. Paul has been rattling off quotes Jews made
about themselves.
Vs 21 – Then Paul asks them two pointed questions. When you teach others do you teach
yourself? When you tell others to not
steal, do you steal? Paul is asking
straight forward questions because He sees lifestyle within the Jewish
community not adding up.
Wednesday Thought
Today is the middle of the week and here is a thought. The husband who puts a deposit in another woman`s account other than his spouses will soon find his account close. So today be true to the one you love and remember she is God's choice and will for you. As well you choose her and she choose you.

The future
Romans 2:16-18 – The future
Vs 16 – Paul says that all will be revealed on the day of
God’s judgment. The secrets of the heart will be revealed through Jesus
Christ. What you do with Jesus Christ is
the central to have you will be judged in the future. Paul says that he included this truth in his
presentation of the gospel.
Vs 17- Paul talks to His Jewish audience directly. If you call yourself a Jew, if you rely on
the law and if you brag about your relationship with God.
Vs 18 – He continues his discourse, If you know His will,
approve what is superior and you have been instructed in the law?

The future
It is Tuesday and here is your thought for today. A person who eats forbidden fruit will very soon have a sore stomach ache and pain where you cannot put a window. Sin often looks good at the beginning but its long term results will kill you and any future you have. So turn your life over to God and let Him lead you into righteousness and a wonderful future.

Be doers
Romans 2:13-15 – Be doers
Vs 13 – Hearing the law is not enough, you have to obey the
law. James says, “We are not just to
hearers of the law but doers as well.
Obedience is an outgrowth of hearing, believing and trusting God. Paul says when you obey the law you are
declared righteous.
Vs 14 – Paul brings a reality. When gentiles do by nature the things
required by the law they become a law unto themselves. Paul is saying that when a person does by
conscience the requirements of God. The Lord looks at them differently. Paul makes room here for conscience.
Vs 15 – These individuals have shown that they have the
requirements of the law written on their hearts and consciences. This reality bears witness that their
thoughts in stead of accusing them is in fact defending them.
Be doers
Good morning, it is a new week and here is a little thought. There are people who consider the word STOP to mean, "Spin tires on pavement." The word means to halt an action that could either be bad or good. When it comes sin and bad lifestyle choices it means give the thing over to God and let Him change you from the inside out. God has a great destiny and dream for you. Give your life to Him and see how the word stop will have a great meaning.

Vs 10 – Those who do God, Jew first and then Gentile God
will reward with glory, honor and peace.
God’s glory always brings honor and with it true peace.
Vs 11 – Paul says that God does not show favoritism. He deals with each other by what they do and
how they live.

apart from the law. All who sin under

What is life all
about! – 1 Thess 3:12-23
Theme: There is a
future hope for the church and the believer in the second coming of Christ.
Survey: The church
was founded by Paul on his second missionary journey. It was composed of Christians, Jews and Greeks. There was much persecution in the city and
the church was suffering. Someone had
also said that the Lord Jesus Christ had come back; the church was also idle
because of the loss of loved ones. Paul
wanted to unite the believers. He wanted
the church to know that Christ had not come and to give them teaching on the
second coming. He wanted them to watch
and to have their hearts prepared for this great event.
1 Thessalonians
Emphasizes:
1. Believers
should not be discouraged over the loss of a loved one because they are
Going to see
them again.
2. Do not be idle
and do not return to the heathen voices.
3. He encourages
them to be in unity and to defend the faith.
Do not lose heart in the
Midst of
persecution.
4. To exhort the
church to be pure, full of brotherly love and daily walk for the Lord.
5. To comfort and
to encourage. To be prepared for the
advent of Christ and to give
Scriptural
teaching on the second coming.
6. Orderly conduct
in the assembly and daily life.
1 Thess 3:12-13 – What is Life all about?
1. Having
your love increase and overflow for each other.
2. Loving
everyone. It must however be
demonstrated first In the church.
3. Strengthening
all in their hearts.
4. Living
blameless.
5. Living
holy in the presence of God the Father.
6. Continuing
in this process until the Lord Jesus comes back with His holy ones.
Verse Today
Psalm 48:9New International Version (NIV)
9 Within your temple, O God,
we meditate on your unfailing love.
we meditate on your unfailing love.
Doing Good
Roman 2:7-9 – Doing Good
Vs 7 – Paul talks about being persistent in doing good. When you sow goodness you will a harvest of
godliness. When your motivation for doing
good for others is doing it in the name of the Lord you will receive from the
Lord, glory, honor and immortality included with your eternal life.
Vs 8 – Paul contrast this by saying that those who are self
seeking, reject the truth and follow evil will have only one future, wrath and
anger.
Vs 9 – It does not matter if you are a Jew or Gentile. Any one who does evil will have trouble and
distress. All have sinned and come short
of the glory of God.
Peace
Here is your thought for today and it is simple. Peace means, "Please encourage all Christians everywhere." Do that and you will be the Christian God wants you to be.

James 1:5New International Version (NIV)
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
God is Kind
God is Kind – Romans 2:4-6
Vs 4 – When you judge you show contempt for God. God is kind, tolerant and patient. These qualities bring about repentance,
salvation and forgiveness. The message
of the cross is one of reconciliation between man and God.
Vs 5 - Paul then
reveals that when a person has a stubborn and unrepentant hear, they are
storing up wrath against themselves. God
is recoding and keeping an account.
Jesus said that every word, thought and action is being recorded. Only salvation and forgiveness can erase the
tape. Paul reminds His audience that there
is day coming when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.
Vs 6 – God will give to each one judgment appropriate for
what they have done. God is not mocked
whatever a person sows they will reap.
Wednesday Thought
It is the middle of the week and here is your thought for today. Wisdom is not just about knowing right and wrong, it is knowing he consequences of right and wrong. Don't judge
Roman 2:1-3 – Don’t
Judge
Vs 1 - Paul says you
have no excuse because when you judge others, you also stand condemned because
you do the same things. Unless a person
has been born again they are in a condemned position.
Vs 2 – When God judges a person His judgment is based on
truth. He sees all and knows all.
Vs 3 – So when we who are mere men judge others, we should
not think for a moment that we will escape God’s judgment. That is why Jesus said, do not judge or you
will be judged.

Today is Tuesday and here is your thought for today. Listen to your heart, the head often suffers from memory loss. Mark 1:35 – Luke 4:15 & John 4:43-45 – Jesus Returns to Galilee
Today seems like such a short devotion to some of the ones we have had. This however has a couple of truths we need to examine. Jesus returns to Galilee after His first appearance in Jerusalem and Judea. He is welcome but He knows that He is not welcome in many homes and heart. Jesus s the great water shed of truth. When He comes into your life for the first time you have to make a choice. Is He who said He was, or not? Like any eternal choice there are consequences with that choice.
Many had seen what He had done during the feast of the Passover. The evidence was there but one’s heart has to be open before you can believe and receive eternal life. Jesus did teach In their synacogues and everyone praised Him. He taught with authority and power. Christ wants to come in your heart with authority and power.
Thought today
It is the beginning of the week and here is a simple thought. The problem with a drop out is they thought school only applied to fish. Stay in school, learn what needs to be learned and become a productive citizen. Having a high school diploma is the beginning of a life better than without it.

The man born blind
The man born blind – John 9
This whole chapter is a treasure trove of truth. Over the next four days we are going to mine it for nuggets and life lessons to apply to our lives to help us to become more like Jesus.
Jesus was walking along when he came across a man who was born blind. The disciples ask Jesus whose fault it was that he was born blind, His or his parents? Jesus told them that neither had been guilty of sin but through him the power of God was going to be displayed and revealed. Jesus put some much in the man’s eyes and to go to the Pool of Siloam. This man went to the pool and came back seeing.
His neighbors were surprised and doubted that he was the former blind man. They brought him to the Pharisees who began to question him, He told hem what happened to him and they did not believe him so they questioned him a second time. He told them the same thing. They still did not believe him so they called his parents in to verify the story. They confirmed the story. The called him back in and told him why they did not believe his story. They did not believe that Jesus was from God. He was surprised and remarked that all he knew is that he was born blind and now he could see. They became angry with him when he dared to try and teach them and so they through him out.
Jesus found him a little later and told him about the Pharisees blind which he of course had seen first hand. Jesus asked the former blind man if he believe and he said, “Yes.” Some Pharisees who with Jesus were offended and Jesus told them their were spiritually blind. The lesson we can learn is do not allow yourself to become spiritually blind and when Jesus opens your eyes keep them open.

The Coming Kingdom
The Coming Kingdom – Luke 17:20-37
Jesus had been asked about the Kingdom by the Pharisees so Jesus taught on it.
1. The Kingdom would not come visibly. It is within us.
2. The time is coming that we will long to see the coming of the Son of Man. He will come like the lightning that lights up the sky. Jesus reveal that soon he would suffer and be rejected by His generation and unfortunately ours as well.

Give them the Lord and yourself and you will be a true success.

Ten healed of Leprosy
Ten healed of Leprosy – Luke 17:2-37
As Jesus was going into a village ten men who had leprosy called out to Jesus to have mercy on them. Jesus saw them and He told them to go and show themselves to the priest and as they went they were cleansed. One of them came back after he saw what had happened. He praised God. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked Him. Jesus asked where the others who where cleansed were. No one had come back except a Samaritan to praise God. Jesus told the man his faith made him well.
The life lesson were learn are three fold. First come to God with your need and believe that He will make you whole. Secondly do something that will show that you believe God. Lastly when He does heal you, thank Him for His goodness and make sure God gets the credit.

It is Tuesday and here is your thought for today. Peace of mind will always follow peace in the heart. True peace comes when you invite the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ into your heart. When Jesus comes into your life He will start the work of transformation from the inside out. You will not be the same as you serve and love Him. He will give you a reason to live and a new goal in life. So today let the peace of the Lord come into your heart and then go and be a peace maker for others.

Last Journey to Jerusalem
Last Journey to Jerusalem – Luke 17:11
This was going to be Jesus’ last trip to Jerusalem, He traveled along the border of Galilee and Samaria down to Jerusalem. Jesus was now in the final preparation for what would be the climax of His ministry and life. He knew He would not be coming back to His home. If you knew this was your last day what would you make a priority? Some would spend it with family and friends. Others with a favourite activity or hobby. For Jesus it was to get the last pieces of teaching into His disciples because they would inherit the responsibility of carrying on His work. What has God you do? This is something to reflect on and focus on today.

Reaction to Lazarus Resurrection
Reaction to Lazarus Resurrection – John 11:45-54
There was a powerful reaction to Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. Many believed in Jesus. Some Pharisees were told about it and they went to the council to discuss the matter. After a discussion they decided they had to do something with Jesus and the people would start following Him. The people would declare Jesus as a political King and the Romans would come and destroy the country. The High Priest said, “It would be better for one man to die for the people than nation.” He made a prophecy about how Jesus would die for Israel and then for all people.
The Jews plotted to kill Jesus and because of this He could not travel publicly. Jesus went to the desert of Ehpraim to rest and reflect. In the busyness of life we need to get away and pray, reflect and prepare for the next phase of life whatever it may be. Many came to the Passover looking for Jesus but He could not be found so the people did not know what to think. That is how it is told many people know about Jesus and even look for Him but they often know what to think when the truth about Him has been revealed.

The Raising of Lazarus
The Raising of Lazarus – John 1:1-44
This is the last day we will be spending on this great passage of scripture. Jesus had just raised Lazarus
from the dead a dramatic and powerful testimony of God’s power. Jesus had performed an impossible act. No one had done what Jesus had done. He had proven beyond a shadow of a doubt He was the resurrection and the life. This would have a dramatic effect on how the Jews and the people would react. It would also set up a confrontation later between Jesus and the Jews which would ultimately lead to Jesus death but as we learn with Lazarus death is not the victor Jesus is. Today whatever you are facing or need remember that same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in you and this power can and will be applied to your situation.
Poor I sight
It is Thursday already and here is your thought for today. Many opportunities to help others are missed because of poor "I" sight. Remember that today as you go about your life.

The Raising of Lazarus
The Raising of Lazarus – John 11:1-44
We are now in our fourth day of this lesson. Jesus has the tomb stone removed and Martha as practical as she is told Him that he had been dead for four days and so there would be a bad odour.
1. Jesus told Martha that she would so the glory of God if she believed. The word glory means to have the character and essence of God.
2. The stone was removed and Jesus prayed that the Father would hear Him and that people would see that He has come to the Father.
3. Jesus then told Lazarus to come forth and He did. Lazarus still in his grave cloths came out and he was
unwrapped and set free. Jesus will set you free from your tomb of sin. He will loose the grave cloths of
death, hell and the grave. Jesus will set any captive free all we have to do is ask.
